HONOLULU — Old friends and big donors greeted Senator Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, at a fund-raiser here Tuesday night where the campaign took in $1.3 million — more than Mr. Obama has raised in the islands during his entire presidential campaign.
According to a pool report, a number of Mr. Obama’s friends and former high school classmates were among the 500 people who paid at least $2,300 for a ticket to the event that was held at the Kahala Hotel and Resort, a beach-front property here.
“I’ve got friends here who have just been lifelong friends, people who have seen me through thick and thin, in tough times and in good times,” said Mr. Obama, who grew up in Hawaii and is on a week-long vacation here that ends Friday.

Mr. Obama also touched on some of his usual campaign themes — the war in Iraq, alternative energy, access to health care — and also referred to the struggles many Americans face with housing costs and the ailing economy.

Man Charged With Felony Over Tupac Fight?!

Author: Autor  //  Category: Celebrities

Tupac has been gone for almost twelve years now, but he still is causing people to get out of control. Two Wisconsin men recently got into an argument about Tupac that led to a felony charge. According to Milwakee’s radio station WTMJ, Ryan Domenico was charged yesterday with substantial battery after he bashed the other man’s head with a drinking glass after the man had made bad comments about Tupac.

The reports are saying that the man who was hit was sitting with his girlfriend at Shepherds Bar when a 2 Pac song started to play on the jukebox. After the man showed his dislike for the rapper, Ryan Domenico came up to the man and asked him to say his comment again. After he repeated himself, Domenico hit the man.

Bernie Mac, Isaac Hayes Portray ‘Soul Men’ In One Of Their Final Films

Author: Autor  //  Category: Celebrities

‘Both of these guys go for it in a real way that’s fun and energetic,’ director says.

who died this past weekend from complications due to pneumonia, was remembered by friends and colleagues as a “comic master” and “ferociously funny,” praise that was evident to anyone who had ever seen him in films like “Ocean’s Eleven” or “The Original Kings of Comedy.” But was he really also, as “Soul Men” director Malcolm D. Lee said in an interview with E! Online, an amazing singer as well?

Judge for yourself with four clips from “Soul Men,” two of which show the 50-year-old actor singing and dancing with co-star Samuel L. Jackson.

Opening November 14, the film follows Mac and Jackson as feuding former friends who agree to reunite to perform their old act in honor of their recently deceased band leader.

“They do their own singing and their own dancing in the film,” Lee told E! “You get the opportunity to see both of these guys go for it in a real way that’s fun and energetic. [Mac] definitely can carry a tune. He does a great falsetto in the movie and a baritone and alto as well. He has a range. He plays a range of emotions in the film as well as octaves.”

In one of the clips, you can also see the late Isaac Hayes, who died shortly after Mac from an apparent stroke, meeting the characters played by Mac and Jackson in their dressing room. Hayes, who really was a soul and R&B legend, plays himself in the film.

“He was written into the script as himself,” Lee told the site. “When I came on, they asked, ‘Do you want him in the movie?’ and I was like, ‘Of course.’ Not to include him in the movie would have been sacrilege. I had to have Isaac in the film.”

The last clip might be the most characteristic of Mac as most know him, as he engages in playful and sarcastic banter with Jackson before a performance. “We sure are lucky I kept these threads,” he says in the clip, gazing into a mirror. “We look good!”

Lee, of course, aims to keep it that way, he told E!

“When I went to shake his hand and tell him how much I loved him and what a great job he did, he hugged me back and looked me in the eye and said, ‘Make a great film, man,’ ” Lee remembered of a conversation with Mac on the last day of shooting. “I promised him that I would.”

According to Lee, Mac and Jackson will be featured on five songs on the “Soul Men” soundtrack: one original and five covers. (source)

Ludacris And T.I. Have Ended Their Beef

Author: Autor  //  Category: Ludacris

Ludacris and T.I. have ended their beef and they recently explain to MTV News how they are now working together:

“There’s a time and place for everything, and now is the time. This [upcoming] album, Theater of the Mind, is an event, and all the songs on it are events,” Luda said. “I felt like there was no bigger event in hip-hop at this moment than me and T.I. working together.”

“Me and dude never had no problems,” T.I. elaborated a few days ago while calling in to DJ Self’s Sirius Satellite Radio show. “It was always turmoil between our camp and his camp. Us as the bosses of our companies, everyone is gonna follow our lead. We’d figure if it ain’t no problem and we don’t have no issues, no beef, then there’s no reason we shouldn’t be able to get together and make music. That was an executive decision that was made on both our behalves.”

Lil Wayne Settles One Lawsuite!

Author: Autor  //  Category: LIL Wayne

Lil Wayne was recently sued by Jack Sutton, a Louisiana diamond dealer who says Lil Weezy bought a diamond ring and a gold and diamond necklace in 2006, but has only made one payment since. Sutton sued Lil Wayne claiming Weezy only paid $24,000 of the $170,000 he owed for the two items.

A Miami-Dad Circuit Judge ruled and approved the order that will make Lil Wayne responsible for paying the bill stating “which sum shall bear interest at the rate of 11 percent a year.” Lil Wayne is expected to return the ring instead of paying the bill. Wayne’s lawyer Ron Sweeny said “We reached a settlement,” finishing, “Everybody’s happy.”
