Jay-Z Could Be A Good Teacher?

Jay-Z Could Be A Good Teacher?

Mark Ronson is the newest addition to the list of People Who Don’t Like Noel Gallagher. And, inevitably, the feeling is mutual.

Well, it seems Ronson took Gallagher’s criticism to heart, inasmuch as complete sarcasm can be considered “to heart”. Posting on his MySpace blog, the producer announced that he was indeed taking guitar lessons. From Jay-Z.

“Noel Gallagher said I should ‘learn three chords on the guitar and go write a tune’,” Ronson wrote. “So I just wanted him to know that I’m actually taking guitar lessons from Jay-Z right now and he’s already taught me both chords to Wonderwall.”

Gallagher and Jay-Z had a much-publicised scrape earlier this year, culminating in the brilliant sight of Jay-Z strumming Wonderwall on a Glastonbury stage.

Jay-Z Oasis Rap Attack at Kanye Gig

Jay-Z Oasis Rap Attack at Kanye Gig

Posted on 09 Aug 2008 at 3:07pm

Rap’s comeback king Jay-Z has confirmed reports he’s working on an 11th and final Def Jam album by premiering a new song at pal Kanye West’s show in New York on Wednesday night.

The revered MC took the stage during West’s Glow in the Dark concert at Madison Square Garden and performed a segment from a new song he called Jockin’ Jay-Z, which he explained he had recorded recently in Hawaii.

The track appears to partly chronicle the rap heavyweight’s Glastonbury festival performance, and his war of words with Oasis star Noel Gallagher over the headlining spot.

Gallagher attacked Glastonbury organisers for booking a rap star to headline the event, insisting there was no place for the genre at the festival.

Both Gallagher and Jay-Z have since ended their brief feud, but in his new song Jay-Z raps, “That bloke from Oasis said I couldn’t play guitar/Somebody shoulda told him I’m a f**king rock star.”

According to reports, Jay-Z chose to showcase the new song at West’s New York concert because the Good Morning rapper created the beats for the track.

A-List Secrets: The Cars Jay-Z (and Everyone) Drives

A-List Secrets: The Cars Jay-Z (and Everyone) Drives

What is the “it” or hot car for celebrities to have right now? Is it still cool to have the foreign sports cars, or are celebs going green and hybrid?
—T.M.

Hybrid? Sure, if you’re talking about a hybrid that breeds expensive with super obnoxious.

Let’s put it this way: When Beyoncé sang about another woman “in the ‘Bach or the Rolls” for her single “Ring the Alarm,” she happened to be talking about two cars owned by her then-boyfriend, Jay-Z. The rapper, now Beyoncé’s lawfully wedded mogul, owns a Maybach and a Rolls-Royce Phantom. And both are the cars to have, dealers to the stars tell me. That is, if you’re the type of star that can use “dukey rope” in a sentence.

Who else has managed to snag these $450,000 prestigemobiles? And what is inside those things, anyway? Find out—from Fiddy’s car dealer, no less—after the jump.

According to Macky Dancy, who runs the Dancy-Power Automotive Group with two partners on Long Island, “Diddy, Nas, Busta—everyone I just named has a Maybach or Phantom or both.”

Why those cars?

“They’re like planes on wheels,” says Dancy, who also counts Alicia Keys, Christie Brinkley and Bill Murray as clients.

“They only seat two people in the back, so it’s not like you’re getting a tour bus for that money.” But, he adds, you do get all the rest, like TVs, refrigerators and tables.

Fiddy, in fact, has the über-hot Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead. There are only about 100 of them floating about the world. (By the way, it’s a white convertible coupe with white leather interior and a base price of more than $400,000. Just in case you’re making up your Christmas list early. And your first name is Kanye.)

For the record, we’re talking rappers and musicians here, obviously. Movie and sports stars are still leaning more toward sporty models, like Porsche. Anna Kournikova recently got herself one of those via Dancy-Power.

Looks like it’s time to clock out. If you see me on the street, try not to stare. I’m the one rollin’ ‘n’ flossin’ in the Toyota.

Jay-Z Hip-hopping Mad

Jay-Z Hip-hopping Mad

IN one corner is towering hip-hop overlord JAY-Z and his intimidating entourage. In the other is, er, me. Just me.

I came face to face with the Jiggaman as he celebrated his manager’s birthday after his O2 Wireless gig in London.

Can I say one final time that I respect Jay-Z’s work and his Albert Hall gig in 2006 was one of the best I’ve been to.

But I didn’t think he was the right headliner for Glastonbury last Saturday and his set did little to change my mind.

A few mentions of The Sun aside, I thought it was uninspired.

But it seems the superstar rapper isn’t a fan of constructive criticism — as I found out when I met him in the VIP area of trendy London club Paper in the early hours of yesterday.

With the big guy poking me in the chest and his minders all around, he launched into an incredible rant.

He told me: “You were the only one who gave me a bad review. Everyone else said it was history.

“I’m not one of those guys who gets cut up about good or bad reviews but you missed the moment, man.

“It was a first for Glastonbury and you didn’t get it. You’re a non-believer. I was making history and you missed the moment.”

I explained how I loved his Albert Hall gig but wasn’t going to apologise for my opinion that I didn’t think Glasto compared.
