She recently signed on as the new face of Weight Watchers and Jennifer Hudson could not have been a better advertisement as she paraded around Cannes Film Festival over the weekend.
The 28-year-old, who won an Academy Award in 2007 for her role in Dreamgirls, showcased her slim figure in a series of stylish frocks while promoting her upcoming biopic about Winnie Mandela.
She followed the diet programme for several months after she gave birth to her first child, David Jr, last August, dropping a very noticeable, but undisclosed, number of pounds.
She is now gearing up to fly to South Africa with Terrence Howard, who will play the former South African president alongside her, where filming will begin on May 31.
Jennifer, who rose to fame on American Idol in 2004, said: ‘I am so excited and so honoured and can’t wait to get started.

Most new mothers will take any opportunity to show off photographs of their bundle of joy.
And Jennifer Hudson was certainly no exception as she proudly shared her snaps of her baby boy David with Oprah Winfrey.
Speaking to the Queen of Chat on her show yesterday, the singer cooed over recent photos of her four-month-old son and revealed that she is planning to make his first Christmas a special one.
Hudson, 28, gave birth to David Daniel – named after his father, Jennifer’s fiancé David Otunga, a lawyer-turned-WWE wrestler – in August this year.
He was born almost a year after the tragic murders of the Oscar-winner’s 57-year-old mother, Darnell Donnerson, her 29-year-old brother, Jason Hudson and seven-year-old nephew Justin King.

Five months after boyfriend David Otunga proposed to Jennifer Hudson on her 27th birthday, she returned the gesture with a surprise of her own: a proposal on Otunga’s birthday.
The Grammy-winning singer did it last month with style, presenting Otunga – a Harvard-educated-lawyer-turned-pro-wrestler – with a personally designed Neil Lane engagement ring rocking out at 5 carats.
“Jennifer wanted to give him something really special when she asked David to marry her,” says Lane, who worked with Hudson for months to design the ring. “It was very sentimental and romantic … They are really in love.”
The handmade “architectural and geometric” platinum and diamond men’s ring is “masculine, yet has a lot of sparkle,” says Lane, who also designed the engagement ring Otunga gave Hudson last fall. “Jennifer and I went through lots of different designs, talked about it a lot and she was very open.”
The only hitch was that neither Hudson or Lane knew Otunga’s ring size, and when Hudson gave it to her fiancé last month, it was too big. So last weekend, in town for Hudson’s tour dates, Otunga, 29, and Hudson went to Lane’s L.A. store to get it resized. “They were so lovey-dovey and so sweet to each other,” the jeweler tells people. “He was very protective of her and they were so in love.”
Hudson has been mum on the date of the nuptials, but has said that she plans to include her three dogs in the ceremony, perhaps using one as a ring bearer.

Jennifer Hudson’s Friday night performance at the Tower Theater began the way it ended – with the audience on its feet. As she belted out the first notes of “One Night Only” from off-stage, with house lights swirling, the crowd rose, wondering where the self-proclaimed diva would make her entrance.
Once the curtains parted, Hudson, 27, the American Idol runner-up with the golden voice that has taken her from reality-show contestant to Oscar- and Grammy-winning star, sang her way down a short staircase, using her booming vibrato to work the crowd into a frenzy.
Dazzling in a black sequined top and glossy leggings, Hudson treated the audience like family she hadn’t seen in a while. Her roaring performance of “You Pulled Me Through,” from her 2008 self-titled debut, seemed to thank the assembled fans for their love and support without making reference to the murder of her mother, brother, and nephew in October, and brought tears to the eyes of some in the audience. Tyler Perry hopes Jennifer Hudson will continue performing – and even star in a film he wrote specifically for her.
“I just wrote a movie for her that I’m really excited about,” the filmmaker, 39, told people Wednesday’s New York City premiere of Madea Goes to Jail, which opens to the public Friday. “I’m hoping she’ll be able to do it.”
Hudson, 27, kept a low profile following the tragic loss of her mother, brother and nephew last fall, but recently performed at the Super Bowl and the Grammys. Continue
Courageous comeback: Jennifer Hudson performed at the Superbowl
in Tampa, Florida yesterday for the first time since three members of her family were murdered in October
Singer Jennifer Hudson made a triumphant return to the spotlight last night when she performed the U.S. national anthem at the Super Bowl in Tampa, Florida.
It was the 27-year-old’s first appearance since her mother, brother and nephew were murdered in October.
Hudson looked composed and confident as she launched into the Star Spangled Banner in front of an 80,000 crowd in the Tampa stadium and a TV audience of more than a billion.
Hudson’s 57-year-old mother, Darnell Hudson Donerson and brother Jason Hudson, 27, were found shot dead in the family’s Chicago home in October. Her seven-year-old nephew, Julian King’s bullet-ridden body was discovered in an abandoned car three days later.
The singer’s brother-in-law William Balfour has been charged in the crimes.
The murders shocked the country, and prompted an outpouring of public support and sympathy for the popular Oscar-winning actress and singer.
Hudson, whose star turn in ‘Dreamgirls’ earned her an Academy Award for best supporting actress in 2007, was in Florida promoting her latest movie, ‘The Secret Life of Bees’, when she learned of the slayings.
Last night at the end of her performance, she anxiously asked the pre-game show producer Rickey Minor: ‘How did I do?’
‘I told her “Touchdown!”‘ Minor said after the performance.
‘This was such an important performance, because it’s the first time everyone has seen Jennifer. But she’s in such a great place, with such great spirits and time can heal her wounds. She’s on fire right now and totally grounded.’
On Sunday night, friends and family paid their respects to Jennifer Hudson’s slain mother, Darnell Donerson, brother Jason Hudson and nephew Julian Hudson in a public memorial service at the Pleasant Gift Missionary Baptist Church near their Chicago home.
Flanked by three of her students, Carmen Williams, Julian’s second grade teacher, spoke poignantly about the bubbly 7-year-old, and read a few comments from students’ journals.
“I’m sad he didn’t get to be President,” one child lamented, while others remembered a generous and funny boy who loved to tell knock-knock jokes and play Power Rangers.
“Julian was a role model, an academic whiz and a best friend,” Williams added. “You could look into his eyes and you knew he always had the right answer.”
While on tour promoting High School Musical 3, Vanessa Hudgens kept her shoe luggage light and rocked the red carpet in fabulous Jimmy Choo gladiator heels in Sweden, Paris and New York.
The body of a young black boy, who is “believed to be” the missing nephew of Jennifer Hudson, was discovered Monday in a white SUV.
During a news conference on an unrelated matter, FBI Deputy Director John Pistole said the body is “believed to be” the singer’s 7-year-old nephew, Julian King, according to CNN.
The white SUV was found abandoned on Chicago’s West Side, CNN reports. The boy was shot multiple times in the back of the vehicle, according to new reports.
Police have not officially identified the body, but the Chicago Tribune reports that Hudson’s family members – assuming the worst – organized a noon church vigil.
Several Hudson family members were also expected at the medical examiner’s office Monday afternoon to identify the body. Police Supt. Jody Weis plans to hold a press conference at 4 p.m.
The Chicago Police Department issued the following statement before noon Monday: “At approximately 7:06 A.M. a 1994 White Chevrolet Suburban bearing Illinois license plate X584859 and identified in the Amber Alert was located at 1313 S. Kolin. A body was discovered inside the Suburban, in the rear seat of the vehicle. Identification of the body will be made by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office following their examination. The vehicle is being processed for evidence and the investigation remains on-going.”
Julian King, 7, went missing Friday after an unidentified assailant fatally shot Hudson’s mother Darnell and brother Jason. Hudson offered $100,000 for the safe return of her nephew.
