The couple let off some steam with Lewis giving his Pussycat Doll girlfriend a fireman’s lift as they took a relaxing break together in the south of France near Monaco.

Wearing a coral bikini, 32-year-old Nicole showed off her stunning figure and lapped up the sun between dips in the sea.

They also engaged in a spot of water sports, sat side by side in an inflatable dinghy and pulled along by a speedboat.

Lewis, 25, was making the most of a few days off following last weekend’s European Grand Prix in Valencia, which saw him claim second place.

He was pictured putting on an affectionate display with Nicole last Thursday before returning to Britain this weekend for the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed near Chichester.

He might be playing second fiddle to fellow Brit Jensen Button in this year’s Formula 1 Championship – but reigning F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton doesn’t need to throw a pity party quite yet.

The 24-year-old enjoyed some downtime jet-skiing in the stunning Italian seaside town of Portofino with his glamorous pop star girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger.

And she had to hold on tight as they descended from a huge yacht to race across the waves.

He didn’t seem too cut up about his failure to repeat his amazing success of last season – he hasn’t managed to win a race so far this season.

The romantic getaway was a small consolation for Hamilton who finished out of the points again in ninth in his McLaren as Jenson Button’s Brawn scored yet another win in Sunday’s Spanish Grand Prix.

But despite all the obvious trappings of his success, Hamilton has said his idea of a perfect day is a little more down to earth.

He told The Times: I’m never happier than at a family get-together. I’ve got my girlfriend there, my mum and stepdad, my dad and (his second wife) Linda, my grandparents, my cousins, and we have a family day where we have great food and great laughs.

‘That’s a pretty perfect day for me.’

And he enjoys family life so much that he is even considering starting one of his own.

‘I’ve got a lot of young cousins, and babysitting for them is great. I find children give me a lot of energy. I can’t wait till I have ones of my own,’ he said.

Amazingly, he insists that despite the tenfold jump in his £1million a year salary, that money hasn’t changed his life at all.

‘I suppose it depends what kind of person you are but having money hasn’t changed my life at all,’ he says with a straight face.

‘It’s great to be able to pay for my apartment, but I’m the same as anyone. As long as you can pay for a roof over your head, put fuel in your car, buy food and look after your family, then life’s fine. I’m just able to do that a little bit earlier than most people.’

Even as Lewis Hamilton jubilantly celebrated his Formula One championship win with his Pussycat Doll girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger earlier this month the cameras didn’t manage to catch the besotted pair kissing.

In the past they have in fact seemed rather reserved when it comes to public displays of affection.

Lewis Hamilton may be in the running to win this year’s Formula 1 championship, but the race to keep his love life on track is proving a tougher challenge.

The 23-year-old F1 ace and his Pussycat Doll girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger are cooling their relationship in order to concentrate on their respective careers.

‘I am returning to the States to work on my new single and album,’ said Nicole, 30, at the Cartier Style et Luxe concours at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

British Grand Prix Lewis Hamilton‘s burgeoning romance with Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger is continuing at lightning speed as the couple stepped out together at a racing event yesterday.

Despite a brief return to her native America to celebrate her 30th birthday in Las Vegas two weeks ago, Scherzinger rushed back to Europe to be with Hamilton following his Grand Prix win at Silverstone.

The pop star joined Hamilton, 23, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in West Sussex, where the

Despite being first linked last November after they were spotted getting cosy at the MTV Music Video Awards in Munich, Germany, Hamilton went on to start dating Miss Grenada Vivian Burkhardt.

Just days after parading Burkhardt at premieres and parties at the Cannes Film Festival in May, Hamilton did an apparent U-turn and switched his attentions to the Pussycat Dolls frontwoman, who joined the driver at the Monaco Grand Prix.

A devastated Burkhardt, who flew back to Grenada following her trip to Cannes, told the News Of The World: ‘After we were pictured arm in arm at Cannes, suddenly the whole world knew me as Lewis’s girlfriend.

‘But days after Lewis got into bed with me, he was pictured cosying up to Nicole in Monaco. I was very disappointed. I thought he could have shown me a little more respect.

That’s right, the Daily Mirror claim Lewis and Nicole may be finally emerging as a bona fide coupling.

They say Nic even met Lewis’ family at the Monaco Grand Prix (which, in case you were watching re-runs of Gossip Girl, Lewis won by the way) and that the pair were reportedly looking v friendly in Monaco’s Amber Lounge after Lewis’ big win.

The paper says Nicole told a pal: “We’ve been seeing each other on andLewis Hamilton off for three months.”

This isn’t the first time reports of a romance between the pair have blossomed either. Following the MTV Awards in Munich last November there were romance talks doing the rounds.

Now, a source has told the Daily Mirror: “Lewis and Nicole spent time with his family to celebrate, then snuck off to the Amber Lounge.

“It wasn’t long before everyone in the club was patting him on the back and congratulating him on his win. But Lewis only had eyes for Nicole – he couldn’t keep his hands off her.

“They were kissing as if no one else was watching.”
