Even as Lewis Hamilton jubilantly celebrated his Formula One championship win with his Pussycat Doll girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger earlier this month the cameras didn’t manage to catch the besotted pair kissing.

In the past they have in fact seemed rather reserved when it comes to public displays of affection.

But there was nothing shy about the romantic kiss the pair shared when they arrived in Los Angeles yesterday.

Perhaps the couple were on a high after it emerged Lewis plans to take Nicole and his family into space.

The star plans to take his loved ones to the stars on Richard Branson’s highly exclusive Virgin Galactic airline, the London Lite reported.

With tickets costing £125,000 each, Lewis will be splashing out £625,000 on tickets for himself, Nicole, his father Anthony, stepmother Linda and half-brother Nicholas.

A source, told the paper: ‘He is on the way to becoming the first billionaire sportsman, so what better way to spend his fortune? Lewis thinks it would be the perfect way to say thank you to Nicole and his family for their support throughout his triumphant year.’

The couple arrived at LAX airport hours after Nicole appeared on ITV programme Loose Women.

Lewis pushed a trolley with the pair’s big pile of baggage on it as they left the airport arm in arm.

The 30-year-old singer and her band performed their new single on the ITV show.

In a chat with the Women beforehand she joked she will be driving next year and Lewis will be a Pussycat Doll.

It’s not clear why the superstar couple are in LA but Nicole plans to take Lewis to her home of Hawaii to celebrate New Year and to meet her family.

They will also spend Lewis’s 24th birthday there on January 7.

Lewis, 23, treated Nicole to tour of his home town of Stevenage days after he won the world title in Sao Paulo - where she was famously pictured with a fraught expressions on her face as she nervously saw her man claim victory.

The couple first met at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Germany late last year and it has been reported Nicole is also house hunting in London so they can be closer together.
