Janet Jackson isn’t the only artist adding lingerie designer to her resume. Usher, who already has two successful men’s and women’s fragrances, is now starting his own intimates line. While sitting front-row at the Marlies Dekkers Lingerie show in Paris this weekend, the R&B singer told WWD, “You may have heard that I might be launching a lingerie line for men and woman. Comfort and intimacy is very important.” There is no launch date yet, but some of Usher’s lingerie designs are featured in his new “Trading Places” video.

Usher and Keith Urban will help ring in the 2008 NFL season with a free Sept. 4 concert at New York’s Columbus Circle.

Highlights will be sprinkled across the NFL Network, NFL.com and Sprint’s NFL Mobile Live. NBC will also air footage the following day.

The Sept. 4 show will lead into the NFL season opener between the Super Bowl champion New York Giants and the Washington Redskins at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

Usher’s son may only be about seven months old, but he’s already a handful!

“He’s like hyper baby — he’s crawling so fast!” mom Tameka Foster told Usmagazine.com at the 2008 HollyRod Foundation 10th Annual DesignCare Fundraiser over the weekend.

“He stands up, and he’s walking around the table … it’s amazing to watch him,” added Foster, 38. “I’ve never seen a baby crawl so fast! I call him Dash, like on the Incredibles!”

While Foster called motherhood “wonderful,” she said “every day is a new challenge with him.

“We’re just scared because the baby knows how to get off the bed already, so our bed is like a gigantic crib because we have rails.

“It’s hilarious!” Foster added. “Can you imagine a king-size crib?”

Even though Foster and Usher, 29, who wed in Atlanta last August (see more celebrity wedding photos), have their hands full, they’d like to expand their brood.

“I’d love to have more, we just gotta make the time,” Foster said.

Usher and son Usher the Fifth are the headliners in the newest issue of Essence. He opens up about why it’s extra important for him to be a good father:

HARPER: Your father wasn’t around to raise you. How do you plan to be different for your son than your father was for you?

USHER: Just simply being there. I don’t judge my father because I forgave him for anything he’d ever done to hurt me unintentionally. My father and I had a very short amount of time together throughout my entire life, but the most valuable time was during his final days. He asked me to forgive him for not being there. He asked me to give him a chance, give him a shot because he loved me, and he had always loved me. But it was very difficult for him to be in the situation he was in and be the example he wanted me to follow. So he intentionally stayed away. And he was kept away from me too. He didn’t like it, but he didn’t fight it because he knew he wasn’t living right.

HARPER: What would you say to young men and women about what they should expect from a man who’s a father? What is living right as a father? How do you define that? How would that man look?

USHER: That man would accept his responsibilities as a father, regardless of whether he was with the mother of the child. Men will leave a situation for several reasons. One, it’s not comfortable. It may be violent. The two of you may grow apart. But you should never abandon that responsibility, which is to be there, reading with your child, being supportive of your child’s growth. That is communicating. That is making the choice to put your child before your own vanity.

HARPER: If you could take your finger and touch your 9-month-old son, Usher V, on the head and impart some certain knowledge, what would you want him to know?

USHER: First of all, I’d actually look inside myself and evaluate what I felt like I missed from my own father.

HARPER: What did you miss?

USHER: Knowing that I was accepted. That I mattered. And hearing that he cared enough to put me before himself.

On being a father [Usher] says, “He’s gonna admire me, he’s gonna look up to me. He’s gonna say, ‘I wanna be’ or he should say - ‘I wanna be like my father.”

When asked about his marriage to Tameka, Usher responds, “They think that it was forced. I’ve heard a lot of comments like, “Oh, she trapped him.” “He got a baby by her, and then she’s married and she’s set for life.No. She wasn’t pregnant when I asked her to marry me. There’s some sort of huge conspiracy over this, the fact that I made these choices in my life. No I grew older. As a man, I have to take responsibility and take a hold of my life. I’m accountable for what happens to my life now.”
